Spending One day with Nokia 5?
I have been using Apple iPhone X from a while since it is released. I have preordered it and received it sometime first week if November 2017. It is exactly more than a year and I now wanted to have some change. I usually invest more time on seeing a different phone each time I get bored and now I thought it is time for trying on Nokia.
My favorite phone till today is Nokia Lumia 720 which was yellow in color and carried an amazing Carl Zeiss Lens. Though its megapixels are less, it captured great photos using the power of lens. With that motivation I began plans to buy Nokia and to use it as my daily driver. I have purchased this Nokia 5 from Amazon for roughly $119 + taxes which is not expensive.
Before jumping into my experience with it, I want to give you a little background of the phone so you set your expectations accordingly. Also, Click here for Full Specs. This is more of a lower mid range phone which is available for less than $125 in US market. Though it is not primarily targeted for US market, it works with most of the GSM carriers except CDMA like Sprint, Verizon etc.,
It has a 13 mp rear camera, 5mp Front camera, 2gb RAM, 16gb Internal memory and Snapdragon 430 Processor which is decent for the price of the phone. It comes with a stock android which puts much less pressure on the processor avoiding all the bloatware from other brands like Samsung, Sony or Xioami etc.,
When I unboxed it, I felt good when touching and feeling it. By the way it designed it is no where less attractive to a Flagship phone. It got decent bezels with complete aluminum body. Gorilla glass on the front and speakers on the bottom. It is a Dual sim phone so you see two trays on the side of the phone one for sim cards and the other for microSD card.

Coming to my experience of it moving from once Flagship phone of Apple, the experience was terrible. I do not say it because of the operating system. I never had complains about Android. It is thing to do with the processor and how good it handles. I roughly have 100 applications which have been on both the platforms and I started downloading all the apps. To the half way I decided to stop installing new apps as it was responding too slow. I have set up my fingerprint to unlock the device, but it was almost 3 seconds delay when it unlocks and opens up the home screen. All the apps take at least 2-3 seconds to load and I most of the time used to look aside or do other works until it loads completely. Even in my previous experiences with Android, I have never seen such a slow phone. I thought it would be little close to Nextbit Robin which was predecessor of Razer phone. This was no where close to it. I have been struggling to adjust to its speed in the first few hours. I have set up the phone in the evening and went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning and tried checking all my notifications (Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn), I can see my patience being checked in every minute. I immediately ignored all my notifications and went ahead to gym.
I later realized on my way back home, this phone is not for a heavy phone user. I do most of my stuff with phone. I have my smart home devices connected to it, fitbit being synced constantly, my office apps installed, office messenger installed etc.,
Then I decided the most efficient Android phone for my use may be Google Pixel 3. So, I will soon go ahead and try it out. I was intended to use Nokia 5 as my daily phone by replacing it with Apple iPhone X. I eventually ended up initiating a return to the Amazon and look for other options or buy Pixel.
Please feel free to comment your opinions and do share your thoughts when you moved to a different phone, How did you feel immediately.
Thank you!
