Escobar Fold 1 Phone Announced: Initial Impressions and Order Experience

Escobar Fold 1 Phone Announced: Initial Impressions and Order Experience

Tuesday Dec 3, 2019 - I was a little shocked when I first saw this news in my feed this morning. Foldable Phone for $349 by company called Escobar Inc. With the name we can associate it easily with the famous personnel Pablo Escobar. For those who have got to know about Pablo Escobar through Netflix series "Narcos", Yes he is the same Pablo Escobar we are talking about. This company which had announced this foldable Phone Escobar Fold 1 is owned by the biological elder brother of Pablo Escobar named ROBERTO DE JESÚS ESCOBAR GAVIRIA.

I found quite a lot of information about the company from their website but not about the phone. As per reports, Roberto Escobar has launched this piece of tech to beat Apple and his future plans on suing Apple for Selling worthless phones for more prices.

Let's talk about the phone. The phone has got some interesting topics. Apart from its unique and trendy design of foldable screen. It got a tag line called "Unbreakable Phone". Really????

Can we trust this? By looking at the confidence I feel it might be true to some extent. I found on internet that this phone has been designed in USA and being manufactured in Hong Kong. The company is limiting its production to only 100,000 units in the first schedule. They might view the response and then continue producing the units. But it is very interesting to see a non tech company announcing a smartphone catching up to the latest design with a Jaw dropping price.

Why did I trust?

I am not sure if we can believe all this but few of them makes sense. I feel believing them for many reasons which are:
  • Not very low price
  • Not the latest CPU for price, If they really want to make money with just wall posters, they would have gone for the latest processor.
  • It is already an established website from the Escobar family and no one want to ruin the brand name
  • Also, the payment is handled by Klarna. This is a company not just setup but operating out of Sweden. This is founded in 2005. I feel safe when a reputed company backs a transaction.
  • I found a trustpilot page for this company - https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.klarna.com

What did I do?

Yes, I have placed an order 😬😅

How was my experience?

Fishy, really fishy. I had to literally try 4 different credit cards and 4 times as none of the bank was allowing a transaction. Finally one of my card which is a Visa type was approved but immediately I received a call from my bank. They wanted to confirm the transaction but interestingly after the transaction is done ??

What is my suggestion?

Just like me, lot of tech enthusiasts might have placed an order by risking their money and address information to eagerly know how the phone would turn out to be. So I would suggest keep watching my blog or other tech writers until they receive the phone and take a comment on it.
