Motorola Edge+: Is Motorola back in the flagship game?

April 22, 2020: On this refreshing Wednesday, Motorola has announced a new flagship phone and sent out announcement emails to all their subscribers and previous customers. Motorola is coming back into the business with a new flagship phone with great specs and design. Here are some more details about the phone, price, specs, launch date and my impressions. Please read through

Design:

Motorola was very good with design standards in their initial days and all the years until last couple of years when the transition of ownership from Google to Lenovo has occurred. All their Moto Z line up and Moto g line ups are famous for the design in their price range but they always lacked some important feature which made those models not considerable by any audience. Motorola Edge+ is now coming with all the industry standard design features like

  • High refresh rate Display
  • Edge curved screen
  • Punch hole camera
  • Tiny Bezels all around
and most importantly
  • a Headphone JACK
yes, this phone comes with a Headphone jack and it weighs around 203 gm where as iPhone 11 pro and Samsung S20 Ultra weigh 188 gm and 220 gm respectively.

Here are some pics of the phone,

Specs:

I would like to list down some important and notable specs being fitted into this beast. Please find them below,
  • Snapdragon 865 Chip set with 5G with Adreno 650 GPU
  • 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage
  • 90 Hz display
  • On Screen Finger print reader
  • 6.7 " FHD+ display
  • Triple Camera with 108 MP main sensor, 16 MP ultra wide and 8 MP Telephoto
  • Dual Stereo Speakers

Hands-on experience:

As per a video posted by "The Verge", the editor has got a hands-on and provided some more useful functionalities like
  • Edge Lightning: With this whenever the phone is placed upside down and you are getting a notification then the edges of the phone lights up in a customized way. I am always impressed with the way Motorola adds up their customization on top of the stock OS like moto actions and this edge lighting. It also lights up when you plugin charging or during alarms and reminders.
  • Turn ON/Off the edge display by just double tapping on the edge.
  • you can also charge your other wireless charging devices
  • priced at $999
