Apple WWDC 2020 Updates: Interesting!

Monday June 22, 2020: So another year and another WWDC from Apple but this time it was a bit different. Apple has chosen online WWDC in regards to the latest ongoing pandemic globally. Coming to the updates it was purely software and no piece of hardware has been announced. This justifies the reason of the event as it is only for the software focused Developers. Apple has made some interesting statements and announcements in the event. Let us jump into them with each division of their products.
One update I would like to mention before we jump into Software updates is Apple has announced that it is going to build their own Processors from now for the MacBooks from now. Apple is calling them Apple Silicon. They will be shipping the first devices with Apple Silicon by end of this year. As per their statement I believe Apple also continues to ship their products with intel for some years.

iOS 14: Big improvements after many years

Apple has provided a very big update this year. Features which are lacking in iOS from many years have been released. Overall I being not so Apple Fan has liked this update and wished I owned an Apple product. However I have the iPad WiFi and will check the new iPadOS on it. A glimpse of all the new features is provided below,
  • Widgets on the Home Screen, finally apple gave an update and really cool look to there ever lasting boring app drawer layout which is almost the same from the very first iPhone released. Now the widgets can be placed on the Home Screen itself.
  • App Library: which is a collection of apps automatically organized
  • Compact Calls: No more waiting until the call automatically disconnects or do not get interrupted when doing something important. With Compact Calls you can do your work even though you are getting a call.
  • Picture in Picture: Be it Video calls or a Video Streaming app, the most usable feature on iPad and Android is now available on iOS
  • And number of other improvements to Messages, Maps, Siri and other features
  • Releases this fall and public beta available in July. Developer beta available from today.

iPadOS 14: Notably only one feature I can

  • You can write using the Apple Pencil in any text field and it will automatically convert it into text. This feature is called Scribble
  • You can also copy paste the same Scribble.
